Macae, Rio de Janeiro

My final stop on my trip to Brazil was the very first area that I served in, the area of Aeroporto in the city of Macae. This area is literally a second home for me, and the people that I know there are my second family. I stayed there longer than I did any other area on my mission, a total of six months. I can honestly say that I had some of the hardest times of my life in that area, but at the same time I grew more there than any other time of my life and I created stronger friendships than I ever thought possible. One of the people that meant the most to me was the relief society president in that area, Geni. I stayed at Geni's house with her family the last couple of days, and they treated me like I was there own son, or even better. I felt like I was at home. I was able to see some of the other people that meant a lot to me as well, including my good friend Natan and Thamires. I had the opportunity to go with Thamires, Natan and the Elders to teach Thamires' mom who is not a member, who is a good friend of mine as well. It was such a special experience to be able to do so. One of the days I stayed there I went with Geni, her daughter Jessica, Jessica's boyfriend Jayson, and Thamires to a beautiful city here called Buzios. It is famous for it's beaches, and we had a great time seeing some great places and playing in the sun. I can't think of a better way to have finished off my trip then to spend time with some of the people that mean the most to me in one of the most special places in the world.

With Thamires' family, Gleide, and Natan right after the lesson at her home.

With Evelyn, her sister Emily, and her parents Denise and Aldenho. My very first lunch on the mission was in their home.

With Geni, Jessica, Evelyn and Emily at seminary. They invited me to teach seminary one morning, which was a lot of fun.

Geni with the little angle statues that my mom sent to her for Christmas one year.

This was called horseshoe bay because the way it is shaped.

With my Brazilian mom.

Geni and Jessica making my favorite home made ice cream.

With my Brazilian family after I gave them a few keepsakes.

About to partake of some dessert at Denise's house.
